New Steven Seagal Movie

Before we get to today's action flick trailer, I just have to mention that FRIDAY THE 13th broke all kinds of records over the weekend. It made $19 million on Friday alone, which is more than it cost to make. For the standard Fri-Sat-Sun weekend it made over $40 million, which is the biggest opening weekend for a horror remake ever. And it ended the holiday weekend with over $45.2 million (estimates, real numbers to come as soon as they finish counting up all of that money). Hey, box office is still up (President's Day Weekend up 32% over last year) and ticket sales are still 20% higher than last year - everyone is going to the movies. That's great for all of us.

But this redoodle of FRIDAY THE 13th is good for *me* because my big remake project has the same producer (he's produced many other movies, but I care mostly about mine), and with F13 being hot, I hope my project will get fast tracked onto the big production boards. And that might nudge some of these other circling scripts onto studio landing strips. Heck, maybe I'll even get an agent out of it.

Now to the trailer for the Steven Seagal film I wish that I had written...

Don't you wish you had written that?

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

TODAY'S SCRIPT TIP: SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT RATINGS?.
Yesterday’s Dinner: Subway.
Bicycle: It's been raining like crazy in Los Angeles, so I haven't been on the bike in a while... and when you add in the holidays, I'm getting fatter just typing this. So Saturday we had a dry day and I took a long bike ride... and Sunday my legs were painful jello. We have more rain coming, but I need to get my legs back in shape before they turn to permanent jello.

45M on a 16M investment! Congrats -- I think you've got a green light.

I imagine there's going to be a lot of trawling the archives for iconic horror villains over the next few weeks.

You punked me, Bill!

I just watched the REAL new Steven Seagal movie, "Steven Seagal: Vampire Hunter" (released as "Against the Dark" in the US) and was looking forward to your insightful analysis. I don't know why I keep on watching his movies. I guess the first step is admitting I have a problem.

When I started it up, I honestly thought that something went wrong at the DVD plant and they accidentally put "Doomsday" on the disc. But then it dawned on me. It's not "Steven Seagal: Vampire Hunter", it's "Steven Seagal: Post-Apocalyptic Vampire Hunter"! Ala "Doomsday"/"I Am Legend". I got a little excited. Next Keith David's name popped up in the credits and I got more excited.

Speaking of "I Am Legend", one character noted that if they were the only humans left, then they'd be the monsters now. Twice.

And surprisingly, they didn't put in a subplot that explained that the earth did this because we didn't recycle. I guess Seagal is through his eco-friendly shenanigans.

The first half was a little scary. It followed around another group of people, and only occasionally cut to Seagal and his vampire hunting team. Usually from the neck down.

By the second half, Seagal and company are there, dispatching vampires with swords. The sword was very effective. They no longer need to cut to a stunt double since Seagal no longer needs to kick above his waist.

How to sum it all up? Seagal finally made a movie that will fit in on Sci-Fi's Saturday movie block. I never in a million years thought I'd ever say that. God help us all.

Grant's reply was brilliant. I couldn't get through the movie myself, it was absolutely horrid. All of the acting was ... painful. And most of the lines didn't fit in anywhere. "Remember, it's not who's right or who's wrong, it's about getting it done" I think that was the line that Steven Seagal first said in the movie, after dispatching a group of thug/80'sthug/vampire/child molesters. The problem with lines like these is, they need some sort of source. But this was the first line in the whole movie, and nothing was said after that to explain why he said that to his co-swordsmen.

Or how about the manic mood swings of the people in the hospital? "Oh my God! It's so over!!! We'll be ok as long as we stick together, though"

And my favourite, was watching Steven and his crew walk with their swords sticking up dangerously at their sides, through the dark, from seemingly the same alleyway each time.

Did anyone like this movie?

Caid.
