I was working on a scene last night. I got stuck. Before I started getting upset, I asked myself:

Oh! That did it. Simplicity itself.
A small part of it:
I have a Russian scientist who's planning to defect from behind the Iron Curtain in 1964. He's in this Czech town and walking 'down' a street toward the Soviet/Russian HQ to check in (before checking out, so to speak).
So how can I embellish a simple scene of a man walking down a street? (in order to 'show' his defecting from Communism).
And so:
DEFECTING SCIENTIST crosses street to get to Soviet HQ.
(Because he's on the other side, now.)
